Assembly of processing equipment for the customer qualification plant at Follum, Norway, soon home of Europe’s largest and Vow Green Metals’ first biocarbon factory, is well underway. Biogreen, an advanced pyrolysis system arrived and was unloaded on site in the week after Easter (pictured). The system is developed and delivered by the Vow group.
The customer qualification plant will have an estimated annual production capacity of around 2,500 tonnes of biocarbon. Production start is slated for third quarter this year.
“I’m excited to see such very concrete and tangible results of our efforts to help metallurgical industry decarbonise and impressed with the joint efforts made by dedicated teams in Vow Green Metals and Vow,” said Henrik Badin, CEO of Vow ASA.
The plant will accelerate qualification of biocarbon and increase readiness for the full scale production plant scheduled to mid-2024. The industrial scale biocarbon production plant at Follum will have an initial production capacity of 10,000 tonnes. Studies are already underway for the expansion of capacity to 20,000 tonnes.
Vow is providing engineering support to plant owner Vow Green Metals and will also provide technology and processing equipment for the plants.
